It’s common for refunds to be issued back to a card that has been closed. Many cards are closed due to fraudulent activity, and banks are prepared to handle it. When this happens, the funds are automatically placed on the newly issued card. Refunds can take up to a full billing cycle to post to the customer’s account.
For this, customers should follow up with their bank, and find out when the refund will be posted.
