What is a Primary Entity?

Definition

Primary entity is a term that CircuiTree uses to designate the individual, family, or group responsible for an itinerary and/or registration. Typically, this entity owns the itinerary and is authorized to make payments on the registration. In most cases, the primary entity is the obvious one: the family that sends the kids to camp, the church that is having a retreat, the school that’s coming for an after-school program. This contrasts the secondary entity which may not own the itinerary but who still has a stake (like a parent of a schoolchild who wants to see pictures while at the program.

Examples

  • Youth group that registers 10 kids in summer program
  • Church that registers 30 adults for a weekend conference
  • Parent who registers her child for summer camp
